News show debuts fresh edition
Thursday, June 8, 2006
Approaching one year of production and already boasting several awards, "You Are Here," the Cambridge video news magazine, announces the premiere of its 11th edition. The show was started by volunteers in the spring 2005, mostly members of Cambridge Community Television, who decided to provide an alternative to mainstream commercial news.
This month's show includes stories about African-American experience in Cambridge; a local amnesty chapter that organized a day of human rights activism in New York; the annual Central Square cleanup; the national "Day of Out(R)age," where people protested telephone companies' lobbying efforts in Congress to change the national telecommunications laws; and an announcement about the River Festival.
The episode will air Mondays at 8:30 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m. on CCTV Channel 10, and Thursdays at 9 a.m. on CCTV Channel 9, through June 26. For more information, visit youareherenews.org.
