Minutes for Meeting on June 27, 2005

Angel: contact info was reversed. Andrew as well.

Minutes approved.

Mission Statement:

AnnC: Objectives seem to be "Issues" focused. Political only? Consensus that show covers issues, but culture, other stuff too.

We agree that this is ok.

Agenda seems to have no Agenda bashing. TODO: add this in the future.

Andrew notes that has some missing instructions. Wiki. Send questions/suggestions to list

Segment check-in Jonah, screens piece: high-speed walk through cambridge with slow-motion segments. (used BTV for re-speed. Used music from bandwidth) about 2:12 in length

Will be cut for interstitial use. Matt, Renato & Jonah will do this.

<Moogie needs edit help. He found crew for last Sunday.>

Ann: Dropped gay marriage thing NPR thing is interesting but not much time. 200M cuts, 100M were averted May be a lame duck by time of next show.

<Moogie adds to story bin: Could do a story on another radio station.>

<Angel will be working on an interview of a radio producer in central square. Piece planned for show after this coming one.>

AnnC: Contra dances in Cambridge. Has hours of footage. Wants help with story Ann points to Angel: done lots of arts & music pieces. Andrew mentions production marathon piece on dance. Might be good to look at for inspiration.

<Jennifer: Sean goes to contra dances.> We screen some of AnnC's footage

Possible story: City of cambridge bought the VFW to turn into a youth center: displacing lots of dancing events. Ann is meeting tomorrow with someone for interview about this.

Andrew notes that might be a good idea to bring camera & interview after meeting. People charged up after meeting.

Clearance for VFW footage? <missed this>

Another dance this Thursday. Ann will email list to get crew. Jennifer and Andrew suggest getting a mic and one person to help.

We spend 10 minutes hooking up DVD player to screen Birgit & Matt's segment (The secret was patching straight to panel preview jack. Switcher was getting confused.)

Birgit & Matt's piece: Cambridge artists discuss their work We discuss the "framing" done around interview pieces. Piece is about 5 minutes. Mostly done. Estimated completion: July 7th.

Angel: Children in park: "kids just want to have fun." Parents changed plans so couldn't shoot. Will try to shoot tomorrow. Pre-school. Angel's daughter will be getting camp information tomorrow.

<Jennifer brings up deadlines. July 10th is absolute last time for submissions. July 7th would be better. MiniDV tapes were dropped on Jennifer's desk last segment. Could also drop DV files on group hard disk.>

Andrew: Satire piece we agreed to put in last episode & didn't is available. No new stuff.

Moogie:

Surveillance segment: Looks complete. length ~6min. Audio: Call for FCP Jedi for re-levelling audio. Jennifer: Edit help: Monday 7-9. Jennifer: Suggestions: Use lawyer's guild parts to connect/introduce piece. Moogie: Voice of the state & voice of the people good next to each other. New York ACLU has map of cameras in NYC. Might want to re-voice-over some of the audio Future possibilities: cameras used to solve crimes?

Also working on the Jazz "conduction" piece

Jonah suggestion: Play with steadycam, istabilize software? Might be able to pull single frames from shots & freezing to get rid of shake.

Moogie: ready for air? We think mostly ready. We can do some final polishing, but looks good. Audio leveling mostly.

Buz: Shot a bunch of interstitial pans. Can be cut to 30 second pieces.

Buz and Jennifer have a badminton segment: 3-4 mins.

Jennifer and Steve want to do another weather piece. Will do on the weekend.

Jamnastics piece has been repurposed. Out for News show.

Production contracts: Matt: if you haven't yet signed a production contract for your segment, get one.

Next meeting: July 7th (Thursday) 6:30 PM Jennifer reserves studio.

CHA segment: Ann will edit tomorrow. ~5:30-9:00? Time to be booked.

Branding: what do we want to do? Several people want things to be about the same. We decide to continue discussion on list.
