Present: Elizabeth, Angel, Ann, Matt, Birgit, Baoyan, Buz

First discussion was regarding the number of pieces ready for this show. By producer:

Jenn: Doubtful, no new information

Paul: Yes, by this weekend

Matt/Birgit: Zeitgeist Piece; is coming along

Andrew: No

Sam/Jeff: NStar piece, no due to Sam's limited time this week

We moved to discussing whether pushing the deadline by one week would be helpful. Birgit argues that having only two pieces is bad; Buz has limited time this week because of another project.

Angel and Buz discuss form of a Hometown award winners piece.

Birgit is explaining timings to Baoyan.

Birgit is told about the award winners piece.

We agree that the show air date should be moved one week to Monday August 7th. That means final cuts by next Monday, 31st, and finished segments by Tuesday August 1st.

We talk about interstitials.

[Ann leaves - we discuss the press release before she goes]

We skip approving minutes.

Showing of Final cuts. All we have to show is raw Portuguese Parade footage from Angel. We take a look. We discuss whether to turn it into a full piece or just interstitial. We conclude that it will be just interstitials. How many? Angel will make lots, and Buz can select [at least thats what I've written, I have a feeling Buz and Angel concluded something more concrete than that...]

Birgit and Baoyan discuss the use of a dinghy for intros. They stop.

Birgit give details on the Zeitgeist piece including a reading of the current commentary.

Other pieces: FreemanZ/Sam are making a piece on the NStar/Area 4 discussion. Now that the deadline is shifted, could they get it finished?

We sidetrack into discussing the mailing list.

Back to other pieces: Elizabeth wants to do a 1 minute piece (PSA) on the Circles Project Workshops that she is involved in. She would like editing help. Later a list is passed around to give contact details. We discuss what would be involved.

Angel will tell us next week if a Hometown piece is ready.

We discuss technicalities for Elizabeth's piece. She has a DVD and DV tape, although Jenn has the DV tape.

We return to discussing the Hometown piece. Interviews will come later, probably only a short piece/promo now - Angel is busy because of intern duties.

We discussed what was needed for the screening. I've written beer and paper products, and dessert type food. [I'd like to add cider, and maybe some cheese.]

Design Changes: We're not sure exactly why this is on the agenda Ann prepared, but think it has something to do with existing discussions on show branding. We discuss options for how producers prepare/submit credits. Birgit and Jenn already have a show design that needs some work. Discussion of experience [whatever that means].

E15: We decide not to discuss that right now, given the problems with getting E14 ready.

Streaming: Podcasting could now happen; Buz and Matt talk a bit about ongoing streaming issues and other options, including UTube.

Matt mentions his objections to skipping E13. 12a sounds a bit weird also. Suggestion of 'Season 2 Episode 1' etc. Matt is keen to point out that he knows it was already discussed and a decision reached.

We talk about preparing for further competition submittals. We should keep the need to submit something, either a specially made show, or a really solid episode in mind. Matt mentions that it might be worth holding especially good and non-time-critical segments back in order to raise the quality of one show over another. Matt also suggests a promo that is a part of a show so that any judges can see what that group/show is about. Discussion about where to place in the show - decision has to be logical (end?) but also gurantee that the judges see it (beginning? or maybe they watch the credits?). We should find out.

Adjourn at 8.43.
