Meeting Minutes for Monday, August 1st, 2005
Small meeting: Buz, Jonah, Jim, Birgit.
We liked the You Are Here text with segment titles at beginning of each segment. In second show we had street shots to separate segments, but no text.
Discussed needs for next show. Might be nice to have one more segment.
Buz talks interstitials: Wants night shots through cambridge.
Jim volunteers to do night bike ride for interstitials
Buz and Jim will produce.
Segment intros done last time by Andrew and Ann? Will they do it again?
B-roll for between-segment fill: Would be nice to have.
Weather may not happen this month.
We decide that it makes sense to critique new stuff next week (1 week before deadline)
Birgit might have time to make an external website for the news group.
We discuss video streaming: Stream Jim set up seems to not play on some computers. Will look into alternate formats.
Discussed possible open licensing of show. What would we need to do? Is this a good idea?
Tuesday Law BLive. May be able to get info. Buz will look into this.
Comment: we need more music choices.
Supposedly there are some for-sale music libraries that we can use. Some may be available via Bandwidth.
Archive.org may also have some good stuff. Look for licenses without the "no derivative works" clause.
Comments on the promo:
- Seemed a little short
- Music may have been a little loud, possibly hard to hear voice over the music.
- Text with more information could have more time over black.
- "Bug" used in promo might be better with some background.
- Might make sense to make it smaller?
- Think we used "Good Dog."
- Some of the "on the beat" cuts made driving feel a little short?
- For final info: could de-emphasize the video under the text.
We had one possible member express interest, (Via Sean) but she seems to have lost interest.
Orientation is tomorrow. Would be good to get someone to present. Buz will call Angel.
Jim didn't formally announce outreach role. Will do tonight.
Archiving: 25G for second show. Lets burn to data DVDs. Jim is willing to do. Buz will help.
