YAH Meeting minutes dec. 12

Present: Jonah, Paul, Jim, Andrew, Birgit, Buzz, writer for online paper, Jacques and Ricardo.

Enforcing deadlines: Jim volunteered to be the “bad guy” and enforce the deadlines for the segments. If the segment is not on the YAH HD by midnight, then another older segment will be added in its place.

Discussed “BEST OF” show for the holidays and picking up with a full show in Feb. This would be down time to figure out new intros, having a lighter month to refine our process and then go back to shooting an episode.

Jonah, Paul, Andrew, Buzz and Ricardo will all be here for the month of Jan.

Jim purposed 1/30 for ep 7. Screening. 1/24 final on HD – if your segment is on not in by midnight on the 24, a “old filler” segment will take its place. Jim will enforce this deadline.

Jim will contact those who are not at the meeting that will be affected by this deadline change.

1/9 producers are encouraged to bring in footage/segments for crictisms.

No meeting 12/26- holiday No meeting 1/16 –mlk holiday

Ricardo will hopefully become crew for show.

Criticism of ep 6: Buzz- hard to edit Elisa- liked to know what was coming up next, successful Paul- drank too much and wasn’t paying attention to his suggestion for continuity Jacques- felt like different shows. It looked very professional- editing was great. Able to fit a lot within the 30 min. Jonahs piece was helpful to take a break from “all the talking” Buzz stated that Angel’s piece was edited differently from all the rest. Level of professionalism increased Great introduction people. Muffled sound. Lechmere- muffled sound Angels piece- insets helpful but transitions were busy. Interactive piece. Made piece like a PSA but in a good way- helpful points. More credible if source is sited. Stay more objective- no opinion. Andrew suggested Angels corner for her own productions. Birgit- paul thought it was “good”. Thought that having corporations doing good things was good for CCTV. Good shot from the microscope.

Out of the blue- Rock- well paced. Good music and sound. Interesting interviewer. He shot it twice – had good close ups. Good cinematography skills. Want him to come in and talk and tell us how he did it. Expected to see more people from About of the Blue. Perhaps it should have not been titled Out Of the Blue.- leads people to think that the whole segment is about the gallery. DL was main character and many people expected more from the gallery owners, more info about the gallery. Brattle theater- interviewer had an agenda- perhaps an introduction of interviewer. We didn’t know who he was. Objectivity issue? Shot and finished in 48 hours!

Ideas for EP 7- Paul – religious diversity in Cambridge – could be longer ep. Jacques- black history of month,”justcomes”, play ideas, ideas re: hatian community, Birgt- environ act. Prof from TX speaking at MIT – developing story – DOW chemical and what they have done in India and where Universities invest. Jen- recrutment episode. Anne- Katrina story

Buzz- reminder to close all contracts. Elisa- get list of contracts. Special projects – intro, retention and recruitment, seminars, continuity, update on podcasting, prodecure review (jonah aka show submission), copyrights, further show ideas, cartoon for show, better icons, angel’s new section.choose what we’re going to talk about.
